Tia Hassinen- Contemporary Artist, Director and Designer

In her works Hassinen flirts with the aesthetics of the high fashion and the visual tropes familiar from social media trends and ideals while she approaches the controversial themes regarding on the inequality and hypocrisy of the patriarchal society. Her art is strongly influenced by the visual traditions of the camp and exploitation cinema as well as the art house cinema. Through the rich visual aesthetics and humor she approaches the difficult themes of repression and structural violence.

Nonhierarchical and inclusive methods in directing are at the very core of her practice as an artist and a director. Ethical and approaches, aim for equality and being transparent in the decision making processes are the leading goals in her way of working. Her works are all products of collective efforts and artistic freedom. She is highly interested about the process, collective research and the creative flow as methods in making art collectively.
